The two creatures look like the furry creatures known as Wookies from the Star Wars films.

The women on the scooters have stopped to get their phones out and take selfies with the Wookies.

The strange scene was spotted on Google Maps by a Reddit user who captioned the photo, “Wookies on some scooters in New Orleans.”

The user added: “It’s a little hard to follow, but yes. they do ride the scooters.”

Another commented: “And not even during Chewbacchus. I’m impressed.”

The user is referring to the sci-fi themed Mardi Gras parade that takes place in New Orleans in January.

The 900-member intergalactic krewe of Chewbacchus has become a tradition during Mardi Gras.

The Chewbacchus includes 150 subkrewes which pay homage to a variety of sci-fi, fantasy and horror genres.

The city of New Orleans is known for its nightlife, earning the nickname, the “Big Easy”.

It comes as a group of Ewoks were spotted in the middle of the ocean between South America and Australia on April Fool’s Day.

One user found a hilarious scene that included a church and some Ewoks stood in a circle around the camera looking inwards.

A human-sized Ewok could also be seen on the outside of the circle by a gated doorway.

The creepy image was also taken inside some church ruins which was even more strange.
