AMResorts has closed its resorts in the Caribbean and Mexican-Caribbean region, with tentative reopening dates ranging from May 8 to June 1, depending upon health protocols and guidelines in each destination.
The resorts span six brands, covering Zoetry, Secrets, Dreams, Now, Breathless and Sunscape and include 11 properties in the Dominican Republic, six in Jamaica, two each in Curacao, one in St. Martin, two in Costa Rica, one in Panama and 20 in the Mexican Caribbean.
Guests holding current reservations have one year to change their original date of travel, according to president Gonzalo del Peon.
In a message to guests, del Peon said, “As we all navigate the unprecedented, extraordinary and evolving Covid-19 pandemic, we want you to know that you have been and will continue to be our top priority.”
Blue Diamond Resorts, meanwhile, has closed its 32 properties in the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America. The closings cover the company’s eight brands, including Royalton, Hideaway, Grand Memories, CHIC, Grand Lido, Starfish, Mystique and Planet Hollywood.
Resorts are in the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Antigua, Grenada, St. Lucia, Costa Rica and Mexico.
There is no set reopening date at this time, but “we are monitoring each country closely and will re-open when it is safe for guests to travel again,” according to Jordi Pelfort, president.
